On 17th November a decision was taken by Gloucestershire NHS Trust to place a blanket, open ended suspension on Home Birth support across the County.
Despite emails and FOI requests asking for their risk assessments, pointing out the harm being caused, as well as questioning the lawfulness of this decision; the CEO continues to STONEWALL women and birth workers alike.
We wrote to the Health Oversight Scrutiny Committee and asked them to take immediate action
- but they refused.
They have failed in fact to take any action
On looking through their meeting minutes from the last 12 months, it looks as though the HOSC have
NEVER
exercised their scrutiny powers
They meet again on Tuesday 10th March;
our Councillors,
CEO Kevin McMnara,
Chief Nurse Mathew Holdaway
and many other stakeholders will be present.
NOW is the time to take action,
to show our Solidarity for each other,
our sisters, daughters, sons and grandchildren.
We will not be the generation who let midwifery slip away.
