Welcome to Emma’s Antenatal
I’m Emma, I’m so pleased to welcome you here
Becoming a mother or a father is one of the most profound journeys we ever take.
It can also feel overwhelming.
With so many tests, appointments, opinions and advice coming from all directions, it’s easy to feel unsure of where to begin — or who to trust.
For most of human history, families were surrounded by support.
Wise women. Experienced mothers. Rituals that honoured pregnancy, birth and the transition into parenthood.
In many ways, we’ve lost that village.
Today, many parents find themselves navigating one of life’s biggest transformations feeling uncertain, rushed, or unsupported.
That’s where I come in.
I’ve spent nearly two decades working with families through pregnancy, birth and the early days of parenthood. My background includes university training in antenatal education, pregnancy yoga, babywearing and birth support — alongside many years studying traditional approaches to pregnancy, healing and women’s wellbeing.
Over ten years ago I stepped away from the conventional path of bricks, mortar and the constraints of a system that often forgets the human side of birth. With my two children, I chose a different way of living and learning — closer to nature, traditional knowledge and community.
I’m still walking that path today.
Becoming a mother opened my eyes to just how powerful it can be when women are supported to trust themselves and make sovereign decisions about their bodies, their births, and their families.
Early in my first pregnancy, I made the decision to hire my own 1:1 wise woman / midwife / supporter who would care for me throughout my pregnancy and birth.
It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
The personalised care, continuity, and deep support I received allowed me to feel truly seen and understood. With someone beside me who knew me well and respected my choices, I was able to approach birth with calm, confidence and trust in my body.
That experience helped me step into my own intuition and strength at a time when many women are encouraged to doubt themselves.
It also showed me what birth support can look like when it is truly centred around the woman and her family.
That experience stayed with me.
It inspired me to begin supporting other parents so they too could experience pregnancy and birth with the same sense of confidence, care and empowerment.
Over the years since, I’ve dedicated myself to learning, training and gaining experience across a wide range of areas so I can offer thoughtful, well-rounded support for families.
My work today brings together modern knowledge, practical skills and traditional wisdom, helping parents prepare not just for birth itself, but for the profound transition into motherhood, fatherhood and family life.
My work brings together the best of modern knowledge and ancient wisdom — supporting women and couples to prepare for birth not just physically, but emotionally and instinctively.
My Philosophy
I often describe the way I work as a spiral of support.
At the beginning of pregnancy you might simply be exploring ideas, attending a class, or learning a few practical skills.
As your journey unfolds, the support deepens — through conversation, preparation, hands-on techniques, and emotional reassurance.
Everything I offer is built around the three elements that make us human:
Head — understanding the science of birth
Heart — feeling supported, heard and connected
Hands — practical skills that truly help during pregnancy, labour and early parenting
My goal isn’t to tell you what to do.
It’s to help you find the confidence, clarity and strength that already exist within you — so you can step into birth and parenthood feeling grounded, informed and supported.
Because when families are supported well, everything changes.
And when we rebuild the village around birth, we begin to create the kind of world we want our children to grow up in.
Life Beyond Birth Work
When I’m not teaching or supporting families, you’ll usually find me outdoors with my family — learning new skills, out in the forest, camping under the stars, or following our curiosity on little adventures.
Over the years we’ve spent time travelling and learning from different communities, gathering skills, stories, traditions and perspectives on birth and family life from around the world.
I’ve been fortunate to sit in circles with midwives, doulas and wise women from many different cultures — sharing knowledge, listening to birth stories and learning from traditions that have been passed down through generations.
These experiences continue to shape my work today.
When life slows down, I also love curling up with a good book, baking something delicious, or getting creative with a new project.
These moments keep me grounded and inspired — and remind me of the simple rhythms of life that pregnancy, birth and family are really all about.
What parents are saying…
Your Journey: A Spiral of Support
When you choose to work with me, the support unfolds gradually — meeting you where you are in pregnancy and deepening as your journey progresses.
I describe this as a spiral of support.
At the outer edge, you may begin by exploring ideas through classes, workshops or short consultations.
As pregnancy progresses, support becomes more personal and practical — through deeper preparation, hands-on techniques and emotional support.
At the centre of the spiral is birth itself, where continuous, calm support can make all the difference.
And after birth, the spiral continues — offering guidance, reassurance and practical help as you settle into life with your baby.

Other Ways We Can Work Together
While many families first connect with me for birth preparation and doula support,
my work also extends into other areas of pregnancy, postpartum wellbeing and early parenting.
