Empower Your Birth Journey, FOD April ‘25

This relaxed, interactive and enjoyable couples weekend workshop gives you all the tools you need to prepare for your baby’s arrival.

Take some time out together to understand what to expect & how to go through this important life transition as a strong & empowered team.

I have worked with thousands of couples (& single women) like you for almost 2 decades - it brings me such joy to see the transformational effect - not just on the birth - but in the strengthening and deepening of relationships, the creation of new support networks and helping you to secure a calm and healthy start for your new life together.

Day 1 - Active Birth

Learn how the hormone of love (oxytocin) which helped to make your baby - will help them to be born!

Traditionally these skills were passed down from woman to woman , but today it is the (usually) male partner who is expected to be the rock of support. This can be daunting, few men (or women) can be truly prepared for such an intense experience when our culture is flooded with images of emergency birth scenarios in the media.

Today’s modern medical system is absolute gold when it comes to monitoring and medical procedures. Yet overstretched and understaffed - the emotional holding and normality side of birth can be left lacking. These techniques layer perfectly with the medical system, working hand in hand with whatever twists and turns your birth takes - preparing you for the eventualities and bringing your baby earthside, together.

During Day One we will explore the physiology of birth, including:

  • The stages of labour and what helps at each stage

  • Simple acupressure points

  • Massage techniques for labour

  • Breathing together and “breathing for two”

  • Relaxation and self-hypnosis

  • How and when to use a TENS machine

  • Homeopathy and herbs

  • Using a birth comb

  • Birth pools and water for comfort

  • Navigating “the system” – understanding your choices

Day 2 - Post Birth

The hormone of love (oxytocin) runs right through the whole journey – from conceiving your baby, to birth, to the early postnatal days.

On Day Two we begin at the moment your baby is born and journey through to your first night together as a new family.

Newborn babies are extraordinary. They are born with the innate ability to crawl to the breast, recognise your voice and smell, and even copy facial movements.

The first moments after birth can be surprisingly busy and overwhelming, and those precious bonding moments can sometimes slip away before we realise how important they are.

During Day Two you will learn:

  • How to create the environment for a nourishing “baby moon”

  • What the “golden hour” after birth is and why it matters

  • Baby’s first feed – latching, colostrum, and how to know your baby is getting enough

  • Birthing your placenta (the afterbirth): when, where and how

  • Lost postpartum traditions and how to find your own way in a busy modern world

  • “Baby-proofing” your relationship – staying connected through sleepless nights and big adjustments
